Common questions
Why doesn't it find some text?
BigWord uses Apple's Vision OCR which works best on printed text in good lighting. Handwriting and very stylized fonts may not be recognized.
Is my camera input recorded?
No. Everything is processed in real-time. Nothing is saved or sent.
Why is the voice mechanical?
v1.0 uses Apple's built-in TTS. v1.1 will add an optional natural-sounding voice (you'll opt in).
Does it work offline?
Yes, fully.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes.
Can I use it for foreign languages?
BigWord recognizes any text Apple's Vision can recognize (most Latin-script languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese). Voice readout works for the languages Apple's TTS supports.
